The NP300's factory rear flaps sit up inside the wheel arch. Fine at stock height — toast after a two-inch lift and 285s. They hang low, cost you tyre clearance, and eventually the track rips them off so you don't have to. Entire products exist purely to replace them, which tells you how often it happens.
On tub Navaras — ST, ST-X, PRO-4X — the answer is the Flappie Frame: 300mm wide with an adjustable 205–255mm drop, so you set the height to suit the lift instead of praying. $100 the pair, printed frame-cut sets $110, and future design swaps take minutes. There's no flat guard face on a tub for a bolt-in flap anyway — the frame isn't a workaround, it's the correct tool.
Tray-backs, and the D22s that refuse to die
The D22 got sold alongside its own replacement for a decade, and plenty are still out there earning — their tray guards take a standard sized flap like anything newer. Same maths for every tray-back Navara: 4x2, 235×255mm, $90 a set. 4x4 on stock tyres: 270×300mm steel/factory guards or 300×280mm alloy tray, $115. On 33s and up: 300×350mm ($145) or 350×450mm ($225).
One more Navara-ism: D23 dual-cab pickups ride on rear coils — unique among the mainstream utes of their era — while the cab-chassis variants stayed leaf-sprung. The tub sits differently over the axle than a tray does, which is one more reason "one flap fits all Navaras" is fiction, and one more reason the frame's adjustable drop earns its keep.

Do Flappies fit an NP300 ST-X?+
Yes — tub models run the Flappie Frame (300mm wide, 205–255mm adjustable drop, $100 a pair). There's no flat guard face on a tub for a bolt-in flap, so the frame hangs off the body and takes any frame-cut design. Same for ST and PRO-4X tubs.
