How close is the Everest to a Ranger? Close enough that the first-gen's front flaps literally were shared Ranger parts. But the bit that matters to us is where they differ: no tub, no tray, no flat guard face behind the rear wheels — just arches and factory mouldings. Sized bolt-in flaps have nothing to bolt into on a wagon.
So every Everest runs the Flappie Frame: 300mm wide, adjustable 205–255mm drop, mounted off the body. Frames are $100 a pair, printed frame-cut sets are $110, and swapping designs takes minutes once the frames are on. First-gen or Next-Gen, same hardware — the frame isn't locked to a model year the way moulded kits are.
Lifted, loaded, or towing — the drop adjusts with you
Everest owners accessorise like the Ranger crowd they are — lifts and 33s with mud terrains are everywhere, and the factory arch mouldings are usually the first casualty: they foul, they flap about uselessly high, they get pulled off in the driveway. The frame's 205–255mm adjustable drop puts real coverage back regardless of ride height.
And if there's a van on the towball, a wide flap behind the rear wheels is your caravan's paint insurance — the same fix the Prado crowd buys oversized flaps for, except yours can have a design on it.
Moulded Everest flap kits are generation-locked — a first-gen set won't cross to a Next-Gen, and vice versa, so check what you're buying if you go the fixed route.
