Most private BT-50s are dual-cab pickups, and a tub has no flat guard face behind the rear wheels — the factory flaps are small rubber mouldings bolted up inside the arch, and there's nothing there for a sized flap to bolt onto. Tubs run the Flappie Frame: 300mm wide, adjustable 205–255mm drop, hanging off the body. Frames are $100 a pair, printed frame-cut sets are $110 — and once the frames are on, new designs swap in minutes.
Here's the bit that makes the maths easy: Mazda sells its genuine tub flap as a per-corner service part at roughly $90 a side. A full printed Flappies set runs about the same as one factory corner — except yours has a design on it instead of a part number.
Tray-back XS and XT — sized flaps, bolted inside the guard
Cab-chassis BT-50s wear a tray, and tray guards are what sized flaps were born for. 4x2 fleet spec on standard guards: 235×255mm, $90 a set. 4x4 on stock tyres: 270×300mm for steel or factory guards, 300×280mm for aftermarket alloy trays — $115 either way. Running 33s or bigger? Step up to 300×350mm steel ($145) or 350×450mm alloy ($225).
Trivia for the pub: the 2020+ BT-50 is an Isuzu D-MAX under the skin, and the 2011–2020 one was a Ford Ranger twin instead. None of that changes the only question that matters here — tray or tub. Go by what's behind the rear wheel, not what's on the tailgate.
Because the rear flaps on a tub sit up inside the arch, a 2-inch lift and bigger rubber leaves them hanging uselessly high — there's a whole aftermarket built around fixing exactly that. The frame's adjustable drop puts coverage back where it belongs. And on tray builds, alloy trays vary builder to builder, so measure inside the guard before you order. Do Flappies fit a BT-50 GT or SP with a tub?+
Yes — via the Flappie Frame (300mm wide, 205–255mm adjustable drop, $100 a pair). The tub's factory flaps are arch-mounted mouldings with no flat face to bolt onto, so the frame hangs off the body and any frame-cut printed design slides in.
