3-door or 5-door XL — same answer

And yes, it's worth doing: short wheelbase plus a spare on the back door means whatever the rears don't catch ends up plastered across your spare-wheel cover. On gravel in convoy, mud flaps are basic courtesy — the windscreen behind you sends its regards.
Rears are the fiddly corner. Running a towbar? The brackets and crush tubes fight for the same real estate behind the bumper, and an aftermarket exhaust usually means trimming a flap.
